Setup Guide - Rented or Borrowed Meta Quest Headsets

A step-by-step guide to setting up rented or borrowed headsets.

If you have been sent a headset which has been setup before, follow this guide to help get your headset ready for use in your space. If your headset is brand new or has been factory reset - please follow our setup guide for new headsets.

See our Meta Quest Headset Controls guide to inform yourself on essential headset functions.

Once you have received your headset, you will need to carry out the following steps to get your headset ready:

  • Create a guardian boundary - ensure the virtual floor level corresponds with your floor in the physical space, then draw a 3x3m (10x10ft) room scale boundary for an optimal experience with Jenson8 applications.
  • If you are using a Quest 3, note that the automatic boundary function often does not set the floor level correct. To ensure you do not have this issue, proceed with setting up your boundary manually.
  • You will then transition to the home environment with a menu bar in front of you. If there is no menu bar, press the Oculus button/Meta button to bring it up.
  • Connect to your Wi-Fi network - Navigate to the quick settings tab, then select Wi-Fi settings, then select and connect to your Wi-Fi network. This will be confirmed by a label under your network name which says "Connected".

Troubleshooting

If you have been sent a headset which has not been used for a long period of time, you may be required to re-input the login details which are assigned to the headset before entering the Store. If you cannot retrieve these login details, please factory reset the headset (with permission from the headset owner), then follow our Setup Guide for New Meta Quest Headsets.
