Mobile Routers and Hotspot Information
Mobile Router Recommendations
Mobile hotspot routers are recommended as a backup plan for running Apollo when the venue has a network connection that might struggle to handle multiple devices connecting to a session. There are multiple options available for mobile hotspot routers, and below are the technical specifications of one that Jenson8 has found works well for running small demos of Apollo.
5G Gigacube
The 5G Gigacube is a mobile hotspot router using 5G cellular data. It is quoted to receive up to 1gbps download speeds, but that varies based on cell signal strength and 5G availability. The specs on the Gigacube hardware device are as follows:
Model: TCL 5G CPE (HH500V)
Network: 5G/LTE
Wi-Fi: 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6), compatible with 802.11ac/n/g/b/a
802.11ax mode: 2475 Mbps (5GHz) and 1182 Mbps (2.4GHz)
802.11ac mode: 1733 Mbps (5GHz) and 800 Mbps (2.4GHz)
Ethernet ports: 1x 2.5GE LAN/WAN, 1x GE LAN
Memory: 256MB NAND flash + 512MB DDR3L
External antenna port: 1x TS9
SIM port: 1x nano-SIM card slot
Device model: TCL 5G CPE (HH500V)
Dimensions: 115φx204mm
Number of devices: Connect up to 64 devices
Any mobile hotspot router that has similar specifications and bandwidth capabilities is also suitable. However, it is worth noting that you should always test the network speed in the area you plan on taking the mobile hotspot router to ensure there is sufficient signal strength and network speeds to meet the requirements of Apollo.
