The Discovery Deck

About the Discovery Deck

The Jenson8 Discovery Deck is a single user app for Meta Quest and Pico headsets. It allows participants to learn about the Jenson8 products they will be using in their sessions and to practice using the VR handsets to interact with objects in the VR environment.

The Discovery Deck contains aspects of both Apollo and Boomerang. For example, participants will have to use the green 'hotspots' from Boomerang to navigate the space. In addition, fuel tanks and batteries, among other materials from Apollo are placed throughout the space. This will give participants a chance to navigate their environment and manipulate objects before participating in the experience.

Jenson8 recommends the use of the Discovery Deck as a first VR experience for participants in our workshops. Particularly with newer VR users, this experience can go a long way in familiarizing the user with not only VR more generally, but specifically the controls and interfaces that are common to Jenson8 VR products. Participants can enter the Discovery Deck on their own time before the full experience, meaning less time spent explaining the basics of VR during the experience, and more time enjoying and learning from it.

Installing the Discovery Deck

For Meta Quest users: the Jenson8 Discovery Deck is available on the Meta Horizon Store here.

The Jenson8 Discovery Deck is also available on the Pico Business Store. Search the store for 'Discovery Deck.'

If you use a Mobile Device Manager to maintain a fleet of headsets then please contact support@jenson8.com so we can determine the best way to push updates to you as they occur. Incorrect versions of the software can cause problems during client sessions so it is very important to ensure the Jenson8 software stays updated to the latest release.

Running the Discovery Deck

Discovery Deck is mostly an offline application so does not have the same internet connection requirements as Apollo or Boomerang, however an internet connection is required to authenticate the user at the start of a session.

Users will need to enter a valid PIN code from the Jenson8 Dashboard to run the software.

Since the Discovery Deck is single user, you will not be able to create sessions specifically for the Discovery Deck, but any valid PIN issued to a participant for an Apollo or Boomerang session will also work in Discovery Deck.
