Running Apollo without a Facilitator

The Apollo experience can be run without any users in the Facilitator role connected to the game. The game can be started by the players in two ways. Either all players must check in, or the players who have checked in already can start the game using a voting system. If a game is started using the voting system, all players connected will be included in the game whether they have checked in or not.

For voting to commence, the following criteria must be satisfied.

  • At least one A player must have checked in
  • At least 4 players must be present in the Lobby
  • Once the prerequisite number of players are connected and checked in the option to vote to start is enabled after a short pause
  • One player must trigger the option to vote using the Vote button on the console in the Lobby
  • The player who starts the vote can cancel the vote at any time
  • Players can only vote if they have already checked in
  • After placing their initial vote, players can toggle between “Yes” and “No” if their situation changes
  • To start the game, a “Yes” vote is required from 70% or more of the connected players

When the poll reaches the “start” criteria, a 10 second countdown timer will appear
before the game start to allow for changes in the group situation, such as late
joiners or drop-outs.
