Overview of the Billing and Credit System
Jenson8's updated billing and credit system represents a shift to a more flexible and intuitive approach to managing your use of Jenson8 products and experiences. This system includes an updated dashboard interface, tools for monitoring gameplay, and a range of billing packages that offer diverse options for credit purchases.
Please review the information below for a complete overview of the second version of our billing system, which includes per-person billing, along with other significant changes to the original credit types.
Credit Types and Plans
Our billing system now offers a variety of credit types and payment plans, including Standard and Per-person credits.
Standard Credits (Formerly Per-game credits)
Originally known as per-game credits, Standard Credits represent the original billing system. Each Jenson8 game, demo, or experience carries a credit price tag (e.g., 6 for Apollo, 8 for Boomerang, half price for a demo).
Besides purchasing games, Standard Credits can also be used for other Jenson8 services such as technical support or session facilitation.
In addition, Standard credits now address the issue of refunds. After each game of Apollo or Boomerang, the dashboard now analyzes the game metrics to determine if there was a successful completion before deducting credits. If it completes successfully, only then will credits be deducted. This replaces the previous process where credits were deducted upfront and refunded if issues arose. This change will streamline processes for our customers and support team alike.
For more information on using Standard Credits for games, please see Configuring games for credits usage in the dashboard
Per-Person Credits
The system now supports Per-person credits as well. Per-person credits are geared towards organizations who wish to take multiple individuals through Jenson8's applications at a fixed price per person.
Per-person credits are available in bundles, referred to as 'Plans' in the dashboard. These plans include a pre-agreed number of games per person, for either Apollo or Boomerang, with no extra charge for J* applications. For example, a company might purchase 60 credits of a Per-person billing plan for 4 games of Apollo for each participant.
This is how the billing process functions:
- When a new participant is added to a session, a billing record is created alongside the session membership.
- Add your participants to games as normal. Once a game is activated in the dashboard, the participants' billing records are activated as well.
- Participants can then take part in as many games as the plan allows in that session.
- When the player has reached the limit of games for their plan, no new games with them as participants can be started.
- Billing cycles will periodically run to verify activated billable players and deduct the corresponding credit balance for that plan.
Both of the above systems will run credit checks before games are started to make sure sufficient balances are available.
There are a some other mechanisms in place to ensure that you are only billed for your actual Apollo usage:
- Games in Test Mode (limited to 2 minutes in the main play areas) are not counted against the allowance for a session. Please use this mode for tech checks and other connection tests
- Games that do not complete, eg if the game fails due to connection issues, will not count against the allowance for a session.
- Players in Facilitator roles are not billed, only those in the A, B or C game roles.
