MDM Setup Guide
1. Choose an MDM (Mobile Device Management) system
We highly recommend setting up your VR headsets via an MDM. This allows you to centrally and remotely manage your devices:
Deploy applications.
Deploy Wi-Fi network logins.
Check headset configuration and headset charge.
Select which mobile device management system you would like to use, Jenson8 currently has release channels on ArborXR and ManageXR – you can research both to see which one best fits your organisation. Then proceed to create an organisation on your chosen MDM.
2. Meta Accounts
Each headset requires a unique Meta account, however if you are using an MDM you can create batches of test user accounts (Meta accounts) via the Meta Developer hub.
Follow the instructions in this article to do so - Create Meta Test User Accounts
Pros of using test user accounts
Saves a lot of time - quickly and easily set up a batch of Meta accounts.
Avoid needing to set up a batch of organisation emails.
Automatically signed up a developer account (this is required in order to set up a headset via MDM).
Con
Test users cannot download content from the store.
If you wish to continue to be able to download store content on your headsets, you will need to create a batch of regular Meta accounts, then you will need to invite and sign-up each email as a developer in your Meta Developer organisation.
3. Set up via Your MDM
You will now need to factory reset your headsets (if they have previously been set up) and set them up via these test user accounts.
To factory reset your Oculus Quest 2, turn off your headset, then press and hold the power and volume down buttons simultaneously until the boot screen loads. Then use the volume buttons to highlight the “Factory reset” button and press the power button to select it.
Proceed with the regular setup process as prompted by your headset, assigning a unique test user account to each headset.
Once you have completed the standard setup phase, follow the device setup guide for your chosen MDM:
ArborXR – Meta Quest Device Setup
ManageXR – Meta Quest Device Setup
4. Gain Access to jenson8 applications
To install Jenson8 applications on your headsets, contact us directly and tell us which MDM you are using. If you have chosen ArborXR we will also need to know your organization slug, which you can find here.
